Mary Wright

Mary has been making pots since she qualified as a Clinical Psychologist some 20 years ago. Eventually she switched career and for the last 7 years has had her own studio overlooking her garden. Much of her work uses stoneware clay with the addition of slips and sgraffito to create a strong, modern design based on what she observes around her. She enjoys taking on new challenges and most recently has loved designing and making a range of pottery for Sissinghurst Castle Gardens.

Knole RangeThe Knole range is inspired by trees that she sees when she visits Knole Park in her home town of Sevenoaks. The design reflects creativity and destruction from the force of nature.

Pale Blue Range: She mixes her own glazes and this one is wonderfully unreliable, giving the pots that are dipped in it a unique finish every time. She has started to experiment with a pewter edge which is lovely, albeit even more unpredictable.
