Alison Read

Alison is from Lincoln and in the main, she is known as a printmaker, although she has had commissions in bronze. Studying at Newcastle University, she completed her BA (Hons) in Fine Art and whilst studying she was one of several Northern graduates chosen to exhibit at the Royal College of Art.

Alison specialises in hand made original prints using a variety of techniques including linocut, screen print, woodcut and etching. The subject matter is quirky, fun and mainly animal humour.

"It's not surprising I chose animals as my predominant subject matter considering my farm upbringing. I literally spent most of my waking hours outside surrounded by them, whether it was cows, cats, dogs or chickens, they were my constant companions. Having this experience led me to know their characters well and I have hundreds of stories in my head about them as individuals."
