Val George

Val trained in Fashion and Textiles at Gloucestershire College of Art and Design in the 1970s and then went on to work as a fashion illustrator, then copywriter and Studio Manager for a fashion consultancy in London’s Oxford Street. After many years there she went freelance as an illustrator and editor.

In 1981 Val moved to a house at the edge of the Mendips with a 3-acre field, this began a fascination with native animals which led to a new practice of painting and working in papiér mâché.  In describing the animals in painting or sculpture Val is interested in capturing their movement and a sense of the wild.
