Will Taylor

Will is a full-time artist and printmaker based in Rye, East Sussex.  He is a member of the Society of Graphic Fine Art (for which he has served on the Council and is a past President) and the Rye Society of Artists.

He has regularly exhibited work across Kent and East Sussex and at major exhibitions in London since 2005.  He has had solo gallery shows in London 2011 and Tunbridge Wells 2012, has shown at the prestigious Mall Galleries BITE printmaking exhibition, New English Art Club, STRARTA at the Saatchi Gallery, and also shows at the Affordable Art Fair Battersea.  A new book “What’s the Story? - Artists talking about original printmaking” was published in 2012 and features an interview with, and contributions from Will, alongside some of the leading printmakers in the UK.

He grew up in Liverpool and qualified as a Mechanical Engineer. After a first career in business consultancy for oil & gas companies, in 2001 he chose a dramatically different direction to develop his first passion of art.  He attended short schools at the Slade School of Fine Art London and Kent Institute of Art and Design Maidstone but is predominantly self-taught.  His work explores traditional techniques in etching, pen, silverpoint and charcoal, and always contains a strong element of drawing.  Animals are a recurring theme in his work.
