Lee O'Connor (House of Mani)

Lee O'Connor's arrival on the art scene was very late, having spent much of her working life as an air traffic controller in South Africa and, thereafter, as a florist, a cook on a wine farm in Italy and more… Art has now overtaken all previous careers in importance and sheer enjoyment. Lee has no formal art education, but has painted for about 18 years and made jewellery since 2003.

Her jewellery is contemporary and sculptural. Texture, colour and bold freedom of design ensure that her pieces are wearable works of art – each one making an individual statement.

The metals, stones and found objects she works with are both her inspiration and her canvas. Her pieces are not planned, but evolve as she is led by the material at hand. Being self taught means that trial and error play an important part in Lee’s creative ventures!
